Joachim De Weerdt, Associate Professor of Development Economics at the University of Antwerp is currently based in Lilongwe, where he heads the Malawi office of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Joachim’s academic work draws on two decades of experience in Africa, conducting research, engaging with policy makers and practitioners who fight poverty, as well as setting up and growing a successful and sustainable private-sector research firm (Economic Development Initiatives, EDI).
Established in 1998 in Bonn, Germany, IZA is an independent, non-profit research institution supported by the Deutsche Post Foundation with a focus on the analysis of global labour markets.
