Sakib Mahmood joined the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University as a Research Fellow in the Economic Development and Growth cluster. Sakib completed his schooling in Bangladesh, before moving to the US for higher education. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. His doctoral dissertation investigated the impact of Brac’s STAR program on women’s marital and fertility decisions. Sakib’s research broadly focuses on issues of Development in Bangladesh with an emphasis on migration, labour market, and the ready-made garments sector.
