Ermias Weldesenbet is a researcher at the Policy Studies Institute (Ethiopia), where he also worked in parallel with his PhD studies. Ermias has previous experience from a Danish research institute (Rockwool Foundation Research Unit) and a Danish consultancy company (Last Mile), where he was involved in various research projects. More recently, he served as project coordinator and co-PI on an FCDO-funded research project on social mobility and political violence in Ethiopia involving a nationwide survey. He has taught Econometrics at the University of Copenhagen. He worked as Area Business Manager at Shell Ethiopia Limited early in his career. His research interests span development economics and applied microeconometrics, particularly in areas relating to poverty, the economics of education, health, and migration. Ermias holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, where his dissertation evaluated the long-term impacts of different childhood experiences, a Master’s in Economics from the same university, and Bachelor’s degrees in economics and information systems from Addis Ababa University.
