IZA/FCDO Book Launch “Labour Markets in Low-Income Countries: Challenges and Opportunities”

G2LM|LIC proudly announces the launch of the new book “Labour Markets in Low-Income Countries: Challenges and Opportunities” by David Lam and Ahmed Elsayed. It addresses some of the most important issues affecting labour markets in low-income countries. The book builds heavily on new research evidence that has been provided by the programme on Growth and Labour Markets in Low-Income Countries (GLM|LIC), which was created as a partnership between the UK Department for International Development (now part of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office) and the German IZA – Institute of Labor Economics in 2011. The programme has contributed to the growing interest in understanding labour markets in the poorest countries by producing high-quality research outputs and policy documents, as well as through interactions with various stakeholders and impacts on programmes and policies.

On February 23rd, 2022 between 15:30 – 18:00 CET, we plan to officially launch the book with an online event. The event will bring together researchers and policy makers to discuss different topics related to labour markets in low-income countries.  You can register for the online book launch event here.

It is our mission to broadly disseminate new research findings and policy recommendations in the field – hence the book is available in print and in digital open-access. All chapters may be viewed, searched in, downloaded, and forwarded free of charge from the publisher’s website (under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 for non-commercial use). We take the opportunity to once more express our gratitude to all G²LM|LIC investigators. The book heavily draws on their insights and expertise.
